Greenies for Mommies is a tonic supplement combination powder that is jam-packed with nutrition for the entire body, strengthening the blood and increasing milk nutrition. It is a wonderful addition to smoothies and juices of all kinds. And with no added fillers or anti-clumping ingredients, it is specially formulated as a concentrated pure supplement high in bioavailable iron and other nutrients for easy assimilation. Just take a look at the powerful nutrition in each of its ingredients:*
Beet Root (Beta vulgaris) – is a tonic that supports building healthy blood. It is a source of potassium, phosphorus, iron, magnesium, calcium and vitamins A, B, and C and a host of other nutrients. It builds iron in the blood, which enables efficient transfer of oxygen from the lungs to body tissue. Due to its high nitric acid content, beet root has traditionally been used to remedy cardiovascular conditions such as lowering blood pressure in the case of hypertension. It improves muscle oxygenation during exercise and increases oxygenation of the brain. Another nutrient in beets is folic acid, which, in pregnancy, is known to prevent congenital heart and neural tube defects in the fetus. Beet root does tend to clump.
Barley Grass (Hordeum murinum) – contains iron, copper, and B vitamins that help increase hemoglobin formation of red blood cells and prevent anemia and fatigue. There is more calcium in barley than in milk, and, coupled with magnesium, the herb helps to increase bone density. Barley slows down the development of plaque in the walls of the blood vessels and decreases heart disease. It also helps to keep the intestines healthy. The fiber content stimulates the release of toxins and provides fuel for good bacteria in the intestines.
Alfalfa (Medicago sativa) – is called the “Father of all Herbs,” which is very fitting because of its high mineral and nutrient content. The alfalfa tap root grows deep into the soil and pulls out a large variety of minerals including iron, calcium, magnesium, sulfur, phosphorus, chlorine, sodium, potassium, silicon, and other trace elements that are easily assimilable. It is used to remineralize teeth. Breast milk is enriched by this herb. Alfalfa contains nine essential amino acids, making it an excellent protein source. It helps to build healthy babies. Alfalfa is a blood detoxifier and, at the same time, promotes healthy blood clotting due to the large amount of vitamin K in it. Vitamins E and C are also important nutrients in alfalfa. The herb also supports the pituitary gland, which is the master gland for labor, as well as supports digestion, which can ease morning sickness. It has the highest chlorophyll content of any plant on Earth and is the base of most liquid chlorophyll supplements.
Borage (Borago officinalis) – increases milk production and makes babies more satisfied. Health benefits include blood purification, increased urine flow, good source of Vitamin C, supports adrenal glands, counters inflammation, supports heart rate and blood pressure. It contains omega 6 fatty acid, which increases joint health. Because of its anti-inflammatory nature, borage reportedly eases pain. Minerals include iron, calcium, potassium, manganese, copper, zinc and magnesium. Borage also contains a full B vitamin complex, which helps relax the nervous system.
Burdock Root (Arctium lappa) – has multiple types of antioxidants that remove toxins from the blood. Therefore it can help with skin issues, reduction of inflammation, purifying blood, improving blood sugar levels, breaking up kidney and bladder stones, relieving gastrointestinal complaints, easing childbirth, and cleansing the liver. It contains a variety of minerals and vitamins, including magnesium, potassium, phosphorus, calcium, iron, zinc, and vitamins B, C, and K.
Chlorella (Chlorella vulgaris) – is a green, single-celled, fresh water algae. It is nutrient-rich, containing protein, iron, chlorophyll, magnesium, zinc, copper, potassium, calcium, omega 3s, and vitamins B and C. Traditionally, chlorella has been used to promote heart and kidney health, lower blood pressure, prevent arteries from hardening, improve blood sugar levels, and detox heavy metals. It has been known to saturate the lungs with oxygen.
Nettle (Urtica dioica) –is a good source of the nine essential amino acids that are needed to form protein, which are the building blocks for the mother’s and baby’s bodies. The herb assists in growing insulin-producing cells in the pancreas, which helps lower blood sugar levels and stabilize hormonal production. The plant’s calcium, magnesium, and iron combine with its vitamins D and K to strengthen the bones and teeth. These nutrients also assist with the clotting factors of the blood. The iron and high vitamin C build red blood cell production, increasing the mother’s energy to give birth. The calcium increases the production of breast milk. Nettles improve cardiovascular functions by increasing potassium and nitric acid output, which relaxes the blood vessels and therefore lowers blood pressure and reduces muscle cramps. Nettles’ diuretic action flushes the bladder and urinary tract to prevent infection and kidney stones.
Spirulina (Arthrospira platensis) — is an algae that grows in both salt and fresh water. Most spirulina that is sold is a seaweed. It contains protein, omega 3 and 6, calcium, iron, zinc, copper, magnesium, potassium, manganese, sodium, and vitamins B, A, D, and K. It also contains small amounts of a number of other nutrients. In fact, it is considered to be the single most nutritious food on earth. It has the ability to nourish, repair, and restore body systems and has the building blocks to help produce a healthy baby. It increases the hemoglobin content of red blood cell, reducing anemia and improving endurance. Spirulina has traditionally been used to help with cholesterol balancing, reducing blood pressure, lowering blood sugar levels, and allergic reactions.
Wheat Grass (Triticum aestivum) – is a nutritionally complete food and considered to be a “superfood.” Wheat grass is gluten free because it is cut before the grain is formed. The chlorophyll molecule found in wheatgrass resembles the hemin molecule, the pigment which combines with protein to form hemoglobin. The major difference between chlorophyll and hemin is in the central atom. The chlorophyll central atom is magnesium and the hemin central atom is iron. In all other respects the molecular structure of these two substances is almost identical. Wheat grass is rich in proteins, containing 17 amino acids. Other nutrients include iron, calcium, enzymes and vitamins A, C, E, K and B complex. Benefits include eliminating toxins, purifying the liver, helping digestion, lowering blood pressure, boosting metabolism, and restoring fertility.
Yellow Dock (Rumex crispus) – is one of the best sources of plant-based iron. It draws iron from the earth and combines it with vitamins and minerals needed to absorb it. Its bioflavonoids strengthen the capillaries, which in turn boosts blood circulation. Yellow Dock simulates the liver, gallbladder and kidneys to eliminate toxins, excess hormones, and other waste products, and, in the process, cleanses the blood. It has traditionally been used in cases of skin disease, scurvy, jaundice, constipation, indigestion, poor absorption, and heartburn. It is a mild natural laxative, so if you get diarrhea, you are taking too much. Just back off a little. Yellow dock is a wonderful herb to use in combination with others during pregnancy.
